Baby's Development - Week 15

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH 'MOMMY-TO-BE'
Well, according to ivillage many tests may be in the near future for us. We'll have the option of getting various tests done to make sure things are 'growing' and 'developing' properly.

Things that I've personally experienced: A Lot of lower abdomen and rib pain. My guess is that its my body (pelvis, uterus, cervix, etc) getting adjusted. The pain typically only lasts a few minutes. I am definitely going to mention to Dr. Brown when we go Thursday (Jan 31). I have gum soreness, especially when I brush my teeth. My books say that's normal too. And, as always, I am still out of breath at the slightest little thing - even just talking for an extended period time makes out of breath. I've tried to increase my exercise. For the first 10 weeks, I had to pretty much hault all activity b/c I became very dizzy and faint feeling. So, now, I'm trying to get some sort of activity in for at least 30 minutes most days of the week. Hoping that will improve my oxygen uptake, and I won't give out of breath so easily.

Also, Sajid and I are sick with a cold. We both have terrible head and chest congestion, runny nose, sore throat, and head aches. I don't feel good at all, but poor Sajid is worse than me. His eyes are almost swollen shut.

Other than that, the pregnancy is still going well. It seems that still each day I become aware of someone else who is expecting. It's amazing to me how baby's seem to come in waves.

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH MY BABY
The baby's skin is very thin right now--blood vessels can actually be seen underneath it. Its covered with fine, fuzzy hair called Lanugo, which will not fall out until the baby nears full-term. -ivillage

Baby's Development - Week 14

I've been subscribing to the ivillage Pregnancy Calendar Newletter which is really neat. Each week I receive an email informing me of the growth status of my little blessing. It even includes a 3D picture. Plus, it explains what 'mommy-to-be' should expect to experience during this particular stage. So, I was thinking that this too would be great to share with my favorite peeps - You!

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH 'MOMMY-TO-BE
"You open the refrigerator door, only to be greeted by the nauseating smell of garlic. But you garlic. Or rather, you did. Now all sorts of smells seem unappealing at best, and gut-wrenching at worst. What's going on? It might be hormones, or it might be your body's way of keeping anything that may be harmful to your baby out of your system." -ivillage

WHAT'S HAPPENING WITH MY BABY
"My baby is now about 3 1/2 inches long and weighs about 2 ounces. His or her neck is complete, and my baby even has finger prints. The ears may not be fully developed just yet, but he or she has been absorbing the sound of my voice since day one so that he or she can recognize Mommy the moment after I give birth." - ivillage

First Prenatal Visits

Thursday, January 03, 2008

2nd prenatal visit: We walked in and what do you know, Tracy Norris is sitting their. Ends up she and Mike are expecting too. And, her due date is 3 or 4 days after mine. That is so exciting and so cool.

So, the nurse calls us back, and who do we see?!?!? Tracy Rollins.

Big difference from the first prenatal visit. No exam and unfortunately no sonogram. Sajid and I were a little worried about the baby just b/c all my symptoms were gone and I felt normal. Dr. Brown rubbed the jelly on me and was able to find the baby's heart beat. It was between 162 and 167. He said everything was fine. And, that I should count my blessings b/c many women suffer from a great deal of uncomfortable conditions. And, that was it. We were sent on our way. Next appointment is Jan 31st.

Tuesday, December 04, 2007

Our first doctor's appointment together. We had no idea what to expect. I had a regular exam. Then, I had my first ultra sound. Sajid, poor thing. He had no idea what he was in for. But he did good. We were able to see the fetus. It looked like a little thumping blob. Dr. Brown determined that I was only about 7 weeks pregnant rather than 11 weeks pregnant like originally thought. So, my due changed from June 26, 2008 to July 22, 2008. Oh, the Heat!!!

Tuesday, November 13, 2007

I went to my doctor's appointment. It was confirmed; I am pregnant. I was so excited. Still a little in disbelief. If you knew mine and Sajid's intimate schedule. You know what I was talking about. Just as we were certain we'd never get pregnant, the Lord reminded us that He's in control. It was time for us to begin our family. It was just truly a blessing sent from God. Tentative due date is June 26, 2008 - Anna's Birthday. How ironic. Tentative b/c I have no idea when my last period was. September 19th is what we're going by. We'll know a more definite due date at our next doctor's visit at which time they'll do a sonogram. Yay!!! How exciting!

So, I went to the store and bought a pair of baby socks that have 'I Love Daddy' written on them. I gave them to him that night. It was really funny because his first thought was that they from our kitties, Sophie and Clara. Once he realized that the socks were not from our kitties, but my way of letting him know we were with child, he was completely speechless. He couldn't believe it either. But he was super excited.

Monday, November 12, 2007

Became suspicious that I may be pregnant. I kept waiting to start my period, and even though, I wasn't exactly sure when my last period was, I felt certain that I was late. So, I called my friend and co-worker, Rachel Sullivan, and asked could come to the university clinic for a (free) pregnancy test. The first one she we did, she wasn't so sure about how to read it. So, we did another one. And sure enough, it read "pregnant"! I really didn't know what to think. I was super excited and could believe it. So, I immediately drove to the doctor's office, and they scheduled me an appointment for the very next day. It was so hard not telling anyone, especially Sajid. But, I didn't say anything.
